VALENTINE SET BOXES

BARNES & NOBLE | PAPER SOURCE Packaging Design, Typography, Print Production

These Valentine Set Boxes bring joy and creativity to the holiday of love and friendship. Designed for kids to exchange valentines with their classmates, the packaging showcases the whimsical artwork featured on the cards inside. By translating the vibrant illustrations from the valentines into bold, engaging packaging, I created a layout that captures the festive spirit of Valentine’s Day while making the product irresistible on store shelves.

I designed and managed the production of each Valentine classroom set box. The front cover provides a quick preview of the product to the customer by showing the main character from each Valentine set. On the other hand, the back cover is more informational. Thumbnails of each card are shown except one to actual scale.

Each classroom set box has either mirrored, small dotted, or scattered holographic foil highlighting the product name, callout arrows, and selected details throughout.

In addition to holographic foil, spot uv details fill in the white space on the front cover. However, during the sampling process we found that the spot uv wasn’t visible when printed on darker colors. I was able to work around this issue by adding a lighter color underneath the spot uv layer. This allowed those hard to see spot uv elements more visible when looking at the box straight on.
